My first Edmonton International Street Performers Festivalfeatured

It’s summer time and Edmonton’s International Street Performer Festival has officially wowed me! There’s no street performer festival in Hamilton so I was really happy to hear this festival occurred in Edmonton yearly. With more than 30 years under their belt, it was very organized and full of many outstanding performances. Even more awesome, it’s FREE! How can you not love that? Anyways, even though I want to go there everyday this week to see all the performances, I couldnt, but for the ones that I did I want to showcase their amazing talents here.

Daniel and Kim aka Street Circus

My first time entering the festival at Sir Winston Churchill Square, this was the main performance that I saw. They started it with a little fire show, but I didn’t have my camera out at that moment (I hate when that happens!), but I did capture the rest of the show. I was kinda hoping they did some more fire tricks later on but that didn’t happen. Next time I’ll catch the beginning of their show.

Troupe Du Jour featuring “the best of the best”

We attended the street fest again and was able to catch the Troupe du Jour at around 10:00pm which featured a compilation of artist doing their featured acts of the day. It was interesting to see the variety of acts there in the span of an hour, but then watching a tiny bit of their act makes me really want to see their full act. And it’s such a disappointment that I couldn’t see it all. However, the show was still amazing as I was able to catch the English Gents (the six packs in underwear), Grant Goldie with his projectile act, James O’Shea with the amazing lawn chair trick, Hilby the hilarious German who’s astonishingly good at juggling anything, and once again to finish the show, Daniel and Kim aka Street Circus. I honestly cannot wait to see next year’s line up. I heard there’s different performers each year. Overall, I’m starting to really love Edmonton. I can really see myself settling down here. There seems to be a new festival each week. Even though this festival is ending Saturday of this week, next week at the same location, there’s The Taste of Edmonton featuring live music, interactive competition and many independently-owned eateries and vendors, food, food and more food! It’s a good thing I’m staying active this summer, all these food events are gonna kill me, not to mention my wallet.
